Bakes was started in July 2015 (where has that year gone?), in the year since we started we are very lucky to have outgrown an office and development kitchen, employed 2 staff and our fabulous Apprentice. Our latest addition to our growing team is our Graduate Intern Holly – we asked her to put a few words together to introduce herself, have a read below!
“Hi, I’m Holly! A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to join the BAKES team as an intern to develop the new recipes for your boxes. Of course I accepted as I couldn’t think of anything better then getting to bake everyday.
I’ve just graduated from Sheffield Hallam University where I studied Food and Nutrition. My course covered all things foodie from designing a product and following it through until launch to understanding food law. I’m definitely happiest when I’m in the kitchen getting to be creative so I couldn’t let an opportunity like this pass me by.
During my third year at university I undertook a 12-month placement at a company called Givaudan. They are a flavour house where they create all types of flavours to go into food and drink products. I learnt so much and had a great insight into the food industry.
Whilst in my final year uni I also started running yoga retreats with my Mum where guests came to join us for a long weekend to partake in yoga and relaxation. Over the weekends I’m in charge of all the cooking and I ensure all the food is nourishing but most of all tasty.
Last Tuesday I started at Bakes and had a great week learning how the business works and getting use to the kitchen I will be baking in. I think I have joined the business at a very exciting time with lots of different opportunities and ventures coming up.
